A Colony Park homeowner on Palomar Avenue in Atascadero contacted MAG Electric with plans to add an EV charger, replace their gas dryer with an electric model, and eventually install a heat pump system — a complete home electrification plan that required a serious look at their existing 100-amp service.
The free on-site assessment confirmed the existing panel couldn't support all three additions simultaneously. We provided a phased plan with an immediate 200-amp upgrade and 50-amp EV charger circuit, then roughed in conduit for the future dryer and HVAC circuits so those could be added without opening walls again. All work was permitted through the City of Atascadero Building Division.
The panel upgrade and EV charger installation were completed in two days. The conduit roughed in for future circuits cost a fraction of what it would cost later, saving the homeowner an estimated $1,800 on the subsequent dryer circuit installation three months later.
