A ranch property owner on Refugio Road in the Santa Ynez Valley contacted MAG Electric with two needs: a failing main service panel on their primary residence and a desire to add EV charging infrastructure to their detached barn where they also maintained a small tasting area for wine club members.
The assessment covered both structures. The main residence needed a 200-amp panel replacement with the existing service entry relocated away from a mature oak tree that had begun interfering with the overhead service run. The barn required a new subpanel fed from the main residence and two Level 2 EV charger circuits for member vehicles. All work required Santa Barbara County Building and Safety permits, which we filed simultaneously.
The full project was completed over three days. The residence panel replacement and service relocation, barn subpanel installation, and both EV charger circuits were all permitted under a single project permit. The final inspection passed on the first visit. Total investment was approximately $14,200. The owner subsequently had MAG Electric install outdoor patio lighting and a commercial-grade LED retrofit in the barn tasting space.
