A vacation rental property owner on Spyglass Drive in Shell Beach contacted MAG Electric after noticing that competitor STR listings in the area were advertising EV charging as an amenity. The existing 100-amp panel in the 1972-built home was at capacity with the existing hot tub, two mini-split units, and standard appliances.
We assessed the property and determined that both a 200-amp panel upgrade and a 50-amp EV charger circuit were needed to properly support the new charger. We coordinated both permits with the City of Pismo Beach Building Department and specified weatherproof EVSE hardware rated for the coastal environment, including an IP54-rated enclosure for the outdoor charger mounting location.
The panel upgrade and EV charger installation were completed over two days. The property owner updated their vacation rental listing to advertise Tesla and universal EV charging. Within 60 days, the owner reported a measurable increase in booking inquiries from EV-driving guests. Total investment was approximately $7,100.
