A boutique winery and tasting room owner on Industrial Way in Buellton contacted MAG Electric about installing four EV charging stations in their parking area ahead of a peak summer season. The existing commercial service was 200-amp single-phase, and the owner wanted both Level 2 stations for guests and a commercial-grade pedestal charger for employee use.
The commercial assessment identified that the existing service could support two Level 2 stations without an upgrade, but the four-station plan and future growth required a 400-amp service upgrade to three-phase. We provided a phased quote allowing the two immediately needed stations to be installed under the existing service while the upgrade was permitted and scheduled. The City of Buellton Planning and Building Department processed the commercial permit within the standard timeline.
Phase one — two Level 2 stations — was installed in one day and ready for the summer season. The 400-amp service upgrade and additional two stations were completed eight weeks later.
